Your Conclusions

Now that you have ventured through primary sources providing you with information about the Black Panther Party, I want you to answer at least 3 of the following questions by making a blog entry in the comment section below. After you answer your 3 questions, please respond to 3 comments made by your classmates. Your initial answers to the 3 questions should be at least a well written paragraph each and your responses should be at least a couple of sentences each. Remember the goal is to have a written discussion similar to a class discussion.

- What new information did you learn about the Panthers?

- How do you feel about their belief of armed defense as a way to end violence? If you saw a Panther walking down the street with a gun, would that scare you?

- What is the most controversial aspect or event revolving around the Panthers?

- What were the Panthers contributions to society? Do similar programs still exist today?

- If you were alive during the Civil Rights movement, would you have taken a more pacifist approach to civil rights like Martin Luther King, Jr. or would you have opted to join the Panthers? Why?

***Remember that the BPP was a very controversial group, and your classmates' opinions may vary or be completely different from your own. Please use your discussion skills that we talk about in class when making your own comments and commenting on your classmates' posts.
